April Challenge
So, I stumbled through the February Challenge, and many of you did a great job. Thanks to all of you who remained committed.
It’s mid-month now, and I’m gearing up for another Challenge, for April. This time, I’ll make it a bit less confusing, we’ll submit one shot a day. I went back and saw that many more participated in the portrait-based December Challenge, than did for the color-based February Challenge. I’m sure there are many reasons why less participated, none-the-less, I think it was simply easier to remember that you had committed to shoot once a day.
This Challenge will focus on all things entropy. Entropy, as defined by the American Heritage Dictionary is…
- A measure of the disorder or randomness in a closed system.
- The tendency for all matter and energy in the universe to evolve toward a state of inert uniformity.
- Inevitable and steady deterioration of a system or society.
Or, more simply put:
- Devolution
What I’m looking for this month is a daily image highlighting all things broken. Even one block off of the perfectly landscaped fronts in Las Vegas you’ll find examples of the real world around us. This is a wonderful experiment in seeing the varied communities we all live in and around. It doesn’t matter if you live in a sprawling metropolis, the most remote and private cabin, or amongst the backbone of our civilization in a rural town, there are brokenness and devolved things to be seen. Please join us and share yours!
Don’t forget, I need to be able to find your work, so make sure to tag it properly. Use “aprilchallenge” and “photochallenge” and I should be able to gather all the submissions. Also, feel free to join the Flickr group and submit each image to the pool.
Below are a few examples of what I’m looking for you to shoot. If you are having a hard time understanding this Challenge, feel free to comment or shoot me an email (trevor {at} photochallenge {dot} org.

April starts Photo-A-Day’s 4th year on the 9th. I think I am going to participate in the challenge. I loved December but February wasn’t happening for me. So April I need a new challenge.

This will be fun. I enjoy shooting old broken down things anyway, so this gives me an excuse to hunt for them.

I think this is a great choice for the April Challenge. I must admit that I ran into several stumbles along the way during February but I should be able to manage this one.

I will gladly participate in April challenge. My last photo on flickr is still from February challenge, because I didn’t have any inspiration since then. I came back to Ukraine form Australia and left my love there
Well everything is broken in Ukraine, so it will not be very difficult to find something to photo.
